What you can do

We have to realise that road safety isn't something done to you, but rather something that is done by you. We all use the roads and so by default, have a role to play in ensuring they are safe.

Together, we need to create a safer roads environment where anti-social road user behaviour is frowned upon and condemned by the majority of the public. Your input can make all the difference.

You can play your personal part in road safety through the choices you make about seat belts, speeding, drink/drug-driving, driving whilst using a mobile phone, vehicle maintenance, and also respect and courtesy towards other road users.

As an employer you can get involved in road safety by protecting the Health of your employees. Just by putting measures in place to guard against Occupational Road Risk, you not only protect the Health of your staff but potentially save your company thousands of pounds per year in the process. This could be achieved by implementing a Safety Policy for Driving at Work that educates and trains staff who commute by personal vehicle or use company-owned vehicles for travel in work time.

As a community you can really make a difference to road safety in your area. Whether you are a Parish Councillor, Driving Instructor, Public House Landlord, Mother, Father, group of friends or neighbours, collectively you can shed light on specific road safety problems and dangers within your own community and drive action from which you believe your community would benefit.
