Ensuring compliance with traffic law, removing uninsured or disqualified drivers and their vehicles from the road, and making better use of technology and criminal intelligence can all contribute to a safer roads environment.

Safety cameras have been proven to alter driver behaviour and achieve high levels of compliance with speed limits and traffic signals. This has resulted in fewer collisions occurring at safety cameras sites. We will continue to make use of camera technology and framework to ensure compliance with speed limit and traffic signals at sites where there is a collision problem or genuine community concern.

Criminals will be denied use of the road via the the Fixed Penalty Notice system and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).  Both systems will enable drivers with no tax or insurance or driving whilst disqualified, to be identified and subsequently targeted by Cheshire Constabulary.
